R.E.M.
Group
R.E.M. was an American alternative rock band that formed in 1980 in Athens, Georgia. The founding members were Michael Stipe (vocals), Peter Buck (guitar), Mike Mills (bass), and Bill Berry (drums). The band was a pioneer of the alternative music scene during the 1980s and 1990s and was recognized for its distinctive sound, which combines traditional rock elements with more experimental influences. Their first single, "Radio Free Europe," was released in 1981, and soon after, their first album "Murmur" was released in 1983. R.E.M. achieved great success over the following decade with albums such as "Out of Time" (1991) and "Automatic for the People" (1992). Despite Bill Berry's departure in 1997, the band continued to create music until 2011, when their breakup was announced.
