About the album Collapse Into Now
And so, R.E.M. conclude their career. Collapse Into Now is the fifteenth and final studio album of this highly influential band from the United States, which defined four decades with its sound. The album was released in 2011.
R.E.M. bid farewell to their audience with a very good alternative rock record. The gesture seen by Michael Stipe on the album cover is not coincidental. The song compositions belong to them except for two songs. The first is Oh My Heart, which features the contribution of Scott McCaughey, an old collaborator of the band, and the second song is Blue, in which Patti Smith is present both in composition and performance. Another contribution that characterizes the album is that of Eddie Vedder of Pearl Jam in the song It Happened Today.
Collapse Into Now managed to enter the Top-10 both in the United States and in Britain, reaching No.5 in both countries.
