Metallica is an American heavy metal band that was formed in 1981 in Los Angeles by guitarist/vocalist James Hetfield and drummer Lars Ulrich. They are considered one of the most influential and successful bands in their genre, with many successful albums such as "Master of Puppets," "Ride the Lightning," and the self-titled "Metallica" (also known as "The Black Album"). Their style combines elements of thrash metal with more melodic and progressive compositions. The band has achieved commercial and artistic success, having won many awards, including nine Grammys.
