About the album Black Album

Metallica and their fifth album, titled after the band or known as the Black Album, dominated in 1991. The group from California never expected, even in their wildest dreams, what they achieved with this album. Bob Rock, who played a decisive role, was in charge of production.

The Black Album made heavy metal mainstream as its 30,000,000 copies sold worldwide indicate. After this, nothing would be the same in the metal community. Many hated Metallica for this album and their departure from thrash, but many more got to know them.

The Black Album brought the Wherever We May Roam Tour for its promotion. The tour started on August 1, 1991, and concluded on May 8, 1993, after 250 concerts. The result was huge profits, but also immense fatigue and destabilization of the relationships among the band members, which soon became visible.
