About the album 72 Seasons

72 Seasons comes as the eleventh official studio album of Metallica in 2023, exactly forty years after their debut. The album's production was done by Greg Fidelman in collaboration with Lars Ulrich and James Hetfield. Hetfield explained that the title refers to the first 72 seasons a person lives until they reach adulthood at 18. During these 72 seasons, parents influence the person on how they will see life and the world for the rest of their life.

The album's sound moves up and down the same musical paths as the two previous albums, meaning sharp heavy metal with outbursts of thrash. The album opens with the title track 72 Seasons and closes with Inamorata, which is the longest track Metallica has ever presented on a studio album. The duration of the song exceeds 11 minutes, while the entire album reaches 77 minutes, which worked negatively rather than positively as the listener gets tired from the repetition of the musical themes.

The album was promoted through a massive world tour titled "M72 World Tour," which was one of the most successful tours of all time. 72 Seasons reached No.2 on the Billboard.
