About the album OU812
In early 1988, the time came for the release of Van Halen's eighth album titled OU812. The album would reach No. 1 on the Billboard chart and would become the band's second consecutive album to achieve such a feat. The prevailing version of the album's title is that it was the idea of Sammy Hagar, who, while driving his car, saw the OU812 written on a delivery van.
In OU812, the synthesizers would be limited, and the album would be closer to the hard rock sound. Sammy Hagar is on vocals for the second album, while production belongs to Donn Landee and the band members. The major hit of the album was the power ballad When It's Love, which reached No. 5 on the Billboard chart.
The 4,100,000 sales of OU812 place the album in the fourth position of the most commercially successful albums by Van Halen.
