About the album Fireball

Fireball in 1971 would come into the career of Deep Purple as their fifth studio album and the second with their now classic lineup, Mark II.

It is the next album after the huge success of the previous year that went by the name In Rock. However, it was this success and the continuous demands it brought that caused tensions to begin among the group members. Fireball was recorded amidst conflicts mainly between Gillan and Blackmore.

In Britain, it reached No. 1 and in the U.S. it stopped at No. 32.
