The Gift by The Jam
About the album The Gift
The Jam (i.e., Paul Weller) released their sixth and final album, The Gift, in 1982. The sound of the band has completely changed and it becomes apparent where Weller will head a little later. Soul, Funk, and dance rhythm flood the entire record.
The single Town Called Malice is one of the most characteristic songs of the Jam. It refers to the changes in England at that time due to Margaret Thatcher.
The Gift reached No. 1 in the UK. In the USA, the album reached No. 82 on the Billboard chart.
