Rattus Norvegicus by The Stranglers
About the album Rattus Norvegicus
Rattus Norvegicus is the debut of the British band Stranglers in 1977. Here they begin to collectively unfold their talent, while especially Jean-Jacques Burnel on bass builds the musical identity of the group song by song. One could easily talk about "Progressive Punk".
The Stranglers wanted to name the album Dead On Arrival, but it was changed at the last minute to Rattus Norvegicus (Norwegian rat - in scientific terminology!)
The album reached No. 4 in Britain, and over time its sales made it platinum.
