About the album In The City
In 1977, a band's debut is released, and although they play punk rock songs, in reality, they seem to lead the mod revival movement due to the suits and ties they wear during their performances. Paul Weller, Bruce Foxton, and Rick Buckler will become one of the most dynamic power trios in the long history of rock music. The album In The City is one of the most complete punk rock albums of the late '70s, when the punk scene in Britain was at its peak.
In The City is an album consisting of twelve compositions, all of which were composed by Paul Weller except for two: Slow Down, which is a cover of a Larry Williams song from 1958, and the Batman Theme, a composition by Neal Hefti from 1966. It is worth noting that The Jam needs just thirty-two minutes to unfold their talent in the first album of their career, which was recorded in a few days in March 1977.
The album reached No. 20 on the UK charts.
