About the album Morrison Hotel

When an album starts with a song like Roadhouse Blues, it cannot be anything less than the pinnacle of the band that composed and performed it with such passion. In their fifth album, The Doors unravel all their talent, now complemented by their experience. The sound has shifted to blues rock, while many psychedelic elements also return. Meanwhile, Jim Morrison returns to songwriting and simultaneously records what is perhaps his best album in terms of performance.

The big confusion in this record comes with the song Waiting For The Sun, which was written for The Doors' third album and eventually found its place on the band's fifth record, even though it named the 1968 album (!) In the production of the album, Paul A. Rothchild once again offers his talent, and everything sounds as it should. The cover photo was taken at the entrance of a real hotel in Los Angeles, which was named Morrison Hotel. Because the hotel's management did not give them permission to do the photoshoot, The Doors took advantage of a brief absence of the receptionist and quickly posed for the photograph (!)

Morrison Hotel reached No. 4 on the Billboard, while in Great Britain it reached No. 12. Many would have liked their fifth album to sound like Morrison Hotel (!)
