About the album The Blackbyrds

Trumpeter Donald Byrd forms the group Blackbyrds in 1973 and after recordings that lasted from October 1973 to March 1974, releases the debut album of the jazz funk group. The album immediately wins acclaim – especially in the black music circles.

The compositions belong to Donald Byrd and other members of the Blackbyrds. Byrd collaborates with producer Larry Mizell, who had produced Donald Byrd's personal album in 1973. In fact, Larry Mizell is the composer of the tracks Reggins and Life Styles.

Do It, Fluid and Gut Level were the two singles of the album, which reached No. 96 on Billboard.
