About the album Hot Rats
Hot Rats from 1969 is actually the second solo album by Frank Zappa without the band Mothers Of Invention. It is a highly experimental album containing six compositions, five of which are instrumental. Willie The Pimp is the only composition in which Captain Beefheart sings.
During the recording of the album, the only member of the Mothers Of Invention who participated was Ian Underwood (piano and wind instruments).
Hot Rats reached No. 173 in the USA, while in Britain it reached No. 9 (!)
