Badmotorfinger by Soundgarden
About the album Badmotorfinger
Badmotorfinger is the third studio album by Soundgarden, which was released on October 8, 1991, by A&M Records. It is one of the most significant albums of the grunge movement, which helped in the mainstream recognition of the Seattle scene. The production was done by Terry Date in collaboration with the band, and it was the first album with bassist Ben Shepherd, with whose addition the "classic" lineup of the band was completed.
Chris Cornell was the main lyricist and composer on most of the songs (vocals, rhythm guitar), while Kim Thayil, besides the lead guitar, wrote the music for tracks such as Room A Thousand Years Wide. The main singles released were Jesus Christ Pose, Outshined, and Rusty Cage, which was later covered by Johnny Cash. The iconic logo on the album cover was designed by Mark Dancey. It depicts a serrated design resembling a cyclone or saw blade, with a spark plug at the center of a triangle. The album title was an idea by Kim Thayil as a parody of the song Bad Motor Scooter by Montrose (!)
The album reached No. 39 on the Billboard 200 in February 1992. In the U.S., it has been certified double platinum, which means it sold over 2,000,000 copies.
