Soundgarden was an American rock band, formed in 1984 in Seattle, Washington. They are considered pioneers of the grunge scene and contributed significantly to its emergence during the 1990s. The original members of the band were singer and guitarist Chris Cornell, guitarist Kim Thayil, and bassist Hiro Yamamoto, with Matt Cameron joining as a drummer in 1986. Their 1994 album "Superunknown" was particularly successful, earning many accolades and international recognition, with tracks like "Black Hole Sun" and "Spoonman." The band disbanded in 1997, but reunited in 2010, continuing their creative journey until Chris Cornell's death in 2017. Soundgarden left an unparalleled legacy in rock and grunge music, combining influences from classic hard rock and psychedelic sound.
