About the album Through The Looking Glass

The Through The Looking Glass by Siouxsie and the Banshees is an album that resembles a dark journey behind the mirror, where the band covers and interprets pieces that defined its artistic identity. In fact, Through The Looking Glass was the eighth studio album by the band from Britain and was released on March 2, 1987.

The recording and mixing of the album took place at the legendary Abbey Road Studios (Studio 2) in London during August and September of 1986. The production was signed by Mike Hedges along with the band. The album includes reinterpretations of songs by artists such as Iggy Pop, John Cale, The Doors, Kraftwerk, Bob Dylan, and Roxy Music. The sound of the album is a blend of alternative rock, art rock, and post-punk, with strong elements of gothic rock. It is characterized by a sophisticated, almost dreamlike atmosphere that maintains the dark allure of the Banshees, while experimenting with richer orchestrations. The single This Wheel's On Fire entered the Top 15, while The Passenger reached No. 41 in the United Kingdom.

Through The Looking Glass reached No. 15 in the UK charts and has sold over 60,000 copies in the UK. In the U.S., it reached No. 188 on the Billboard.
