About the album Tinderbox
Siouxsie and the Banshees with Tinderbox in 1986 would reach their seventh studio album in 1986. It would be the first album in which the new - then - guitarist of the band, John Valentine Carruthers, participated in the recordings, who would stay until the following year. The sound of Tinderbox features more electronic elements than the group's previous works, making it more atmospheric.
On the cover of the album, one can see a photograph of a tornado. The photo was taken by Lucille Handberg near the town of Jasper in the state of Minnesota on July 8, 1927. It is the same photograph that can be seen on the covers of the albums Bitches Brew by Miles Davis and Stormbringer by Deep Purple (!)
The album is counted among the most notable works of this British band. Its performance on the UK charts reached No. 13.
