Lonesome Crow by Scorpions
About the album Lonesome Crow
Lonesome Crow was the first recording attempt by the German Scorpions to reach a wider audience. The band's debut is obviously classified in the hard rock environment, but one cannot ignore that the Germans' musical concerns are in an experimental stage, where they try to combine psychedelic rock with hard rock.
The album was recorded in a few days, and the lead guitarist, Michael Schenker, was 16 years old (!). He has stated that, "yes, we were a talented band, but we did not have a musical direction as to where to go". Most of the songs were written by Michael Schenker and Klaus Meine, but all were stamped by the band as a whole. The songs Action and I'm Goin' Mad were re-recorded to secure a place in Lonesome Crow as they had first been released as singles in 1970.
Of the seven songs on the album, the only one that "survived" the rest of Scorpions' career was In Search Of The Peace Of Mind, which was featured live on the Tokyo Tapes in 1978 in a different version.
