About the album Fly To The Rainbow

Fly To The Rainbow in 1974 marks the first hard rock effort by the Germans from Hanover. The album makes an impression with its cover, which appears incomprehensible or among the most incomprehensible covers in rock history. After all, this is exactly what guitarist Uli Jon Roth had stated when asked about it once. In reality, he said that he never liked it, and that he never approved it.

Three of the album's songs (Fly People Fly, Far Away, Fly To The Rainbow) are composed by Michael Schenker, who had left for UFO. The composition of these songs was part of the agreement for him to leave the Scorpions.

The second album by Scorpions represents a decisive step in their long-standing career as two new members, Ulrich Roth on guitar and Francis Buchholz on bass, make their debut here, who would play a pivotal role in the future. Another impressive fact is that the album reached No. 83 in Japan two years after its release, which is indicative of the increasing popularity the band was gaining in the Far East. This would lead to the live record Tokyo Tapes in 1978.
