About the album Lick It Up
1983's Lick It Up is the thirteenth album by KISS. The production of the album belongs to Paul Stanley, Gene Simmons, and Michael James Jackson. This particular album was the last album in which guitarist Vinnie Vincent participated, as after the tour that followed, he was asked to leave as he did not fit in with the mentality of the others.
The recordings of the album began immediately after the promotional tour of Creatures Of The Night, which was also a tour celebrating the band's first ten years of existence. KISS was in the studio in the summer of 1983, and in September 1983, Lick It Up was released. The sound of the album has slightly taken a different musical direction towards what would later be called glam metal. All Hell's Breakin' Loose would become the second single from the album, one of the few songs composed by all the members of the band.
Lick It Up reached No. 24 on the Billboard. The album's sales in the U.S. reached 1,000,000, and the record went platinum. Paul Stanley has stated about the success of Lick It Up: "The only reason the band's fans bought more records than those of Creatures Of The Night is that they appeared without makeup on the cover for the first time."
