Rocka Rolla by Judas Priest
About the album Rocka Rolla
The British band Judas Priest debuted with the album titled Rocka Rolla in 1974. No one could have predicted the evolution of this highly significant band for the hard sound and heavy metal music at that time. The album is a recording that pushes the hard rock sound song by song towards something else. A significant part of this transformation is attributed to the album's producer, Rodger Bain, who was the producer of the first three albums of Black Sabbath and could impart his experience from the recordings with Tony Iommi's crew to Judas Priest.
The impressive thing about Rocka Rolla is that no founding member of the band, which was established in 1969, managed to be present during the recordings of Judas Priest's first album, which took place in June and July of 1974.
Rocka Rolla has since achieved legendary album status solely because of the fact that Rob Halford plays harmonica on songs like Cheater, or that Winter Retreat is a highly experimental and psychedelic song composition attempted by Judas Priest.
