About the album Ramones

The New Yorkers Ramones in January 1976 recorded within a week to create a revolution in rock music with their first album. The debut of the Ramones is a turning point in the evolution of rock music in the U.S.

They “squeeze” 14 songs into 29 minutes and 6 seconds (!) and show the way out to progressive rock. Punk rock has come to stay. The album was produced by Craig Leon, who was producing an album for the first time. Some years later Craig Leon would work on recordings of classical music (!)

The album reached No. 111 on the Billboard. This meant absolutely nothing as the Ramones enjoyed from the beginning of their career the appreciation of a tremendous number of rock music fans.
