About the album The Clash

In April 1977, after three weeks of recording, the British band The Clash released their self-titled first album and made a sensation. This particular album is a landmark album in the world of Punk rock sound. Mickey Foote was the producer of the album.

The songs on the album, apart from the covers, are compositions by Joe Strummer and Mick Jones. Most were written in the apartment of the latter's grandmother, who was a big fan of the group. The photoshoot for the album cover was done at Camden Market. The band appears as a trio because the drummer Terry Chimes had already decided to leave the band at the end of the album recordings.

The album reached No. 12 in England, where it has sold 100,000 copies, while the corresponding copies in the USA have reached 500,000 over the years.
