About the album End Of The Century
In 1980, the fifth album of the Ramones became a reality. Its title is End Of The Century. Songs like Rock 'n' Roll High School and Do You Remember Rock 'n' Roll Radio? stood out and were loved by their fans all over the world.
The album was characterized by the band's collaboration with producer Phil Spector, who tried to give the record a more radio-friendly sound. This required much more time in the studio than the Ramones were used to, and it caused clashes. Years later, after the band had completed its cycle definitively and irrevocably, End Of The Century sounds nostalgic and as if it bids farewell to an entire world, the world of the first 25 years of rock 'n' roll. Perhaps that's why the album cover, for the first time, features a close-up photo and you see something vacant and - perhaps - dark in the gaze of all four.
In the USA it reached No. 44, while in Britain it reached No. 14.
