Moontan by Golden Earring
About the album Moontan
The Dutch rock band Golden Earring from The Hague was formed in 1961, and their 1973 album Moontan was their ninth studio album and probably the pinnacle of their career. Golden Earring presents an album whose six compositions effortlessly transition from hard rock to progressive rock.
George Kooymans, the group's guitarist, and singer Barry Hay were behind almost every song on the album as composers. The production of the album was done by the members of the band themselves.
The great and timeless success of the album was the song Radar Love, which as a single reached No. 13 on the Billboard, entered the Top-10 in many European countries, and led Moontan as an album to sales of over 500,000 in the USA and over 50,000 in Canada. Moontan consistently holds a spot among the ten best albums released in the Netherlands.
