About the album From Genesis To Revelation

A group of five young men who are not even twenty years old records some demos, which reach the hands of music producer and musician Jonathan King sometime in 1967-68. Jonathan King decides to sign them to Decca Records and to produce their first album, which he himself names From Genesis To Revelation, and thus names the band Genesis.

This group and their first album will evolve into one of the most prominent English progressive rock bands in the coming years, even though this is not apparent in the thirteen compositions that move between psychedelic pop, orchestral pop, and folk rock. The songs that make up the record were written during 1967 and 1968, but eventually, From Genesis To Revelation was released on March 28, 1969.

Ultimately, the album was a resounding commercial failure. Jonathan King argued with his young "friends" and abandoned them, and they returned to their music studies. The debut album by Genesis reached No.170 on the Billboard chart in 1974 (!). One of the biggest fans of this album is Noel Gallagher of Oasis. A careful listen to From Genesis To Revelation reveals why (!) It is estimated that the copies sold from this record now exceed 1,500,000 (!)
