About the album Foxtrot

Every great band has in its career an album with which it began its journey to become a legend. Foxtrot was exactly that album for Genesis. Genesis released their fourth studio album towards the end of 1972. The result comes from the collective effort of all five members, while its recording took place as the promotional tour of the previous album was still underway.

The album concludes with the longest song Genesis ever recorded, and that is none other than Supper's Ready, which is divided into seven parts. The suite lasts 23 minutes. On the album cover, which is a work by the British artist Paul Whitehead, we see a fox dressed in a red dress. Peter Gabriel thought up and adopted this appearance for Genesis concerts, which gave a boost to the album.

Foxtrot became the first Genesis album to reach a notable position on the UK charts. It reached No. 12. Genesis collaborated in the creation of Foxtrot with producer Dave Hitchcock. Undoubtedly, Foxtrot is one of the masterful progressive rock albums of the 1970s and beyond.
