About the album Hysteria
Four years after Pyromania and after many adventures, Def Leppard returns in 1987 with Hysteria, featuring a refreshed and fresh sound. This album is one of the most flawless hard rock albums of the '80s. Mutt Lange in production can feel proud of the final product.
The recordings took three years, and its title was suggested by drummer Rick Allen, who had lost his left arm in a car accident and played on a specially adapted drum set for his new condition. Hysteria was the last album guitarist Steve Clark recorded with the band before he died in 1991.
The album truly swept and released singles from July 1987 to January 1989. Its sales have exceeded 20,000,000 worldwide. Hysteria reached No. 1 in both the United Kingdom and the USA.
