About the album Revelations

Revelations is the third and final studio album by Audioslave, which was released in September 2006. It marks the end of the supergroup's journey, as a few months after its release, Chris Cornell departed from the band.

The album was recorded between 2005–2006. The recordings took place at Henson Recording Studios in Los Angeles. The process was quicker than their previous works, with the band having written about 20 songs before entering the studio. The production was undertaken by the experienced Brendan O'Brien. Revelations combines the band's classic hard rock with strong elements of 1970s funk and soul. Tom Morello described the sound as "Earth, Wind & Fire meets Led Zeppelin." Chris Cornell wrote lyrics that are less introspective compared to the past, focusing more on social and political issues (e.g., 'Wide Awake' refers to Hurricane Katrina and 'Sound Of A Gun' to the war in Iraq), but also on themes of love and spirituality.

Two main singles were released from the album, 'Original Fire,' the first single that achieved success on the rock charts, and 'Revelations.' The album debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard in the U.S., selling over 150,000 copies in its first week. It also topped the charts in Canada. Eventually, it went gold in the U.S. (over 500,000 sales), in Canada, and in Australia.
