Black Ice by AC/DC
About the album Black Ice
AC/DC had never delayed reaching eight years without releasing new material. The 2008 Black Ice seemed to have come out of nowhere and many were skeptical if the Australian rockers in their sixties could deliver something worthwhile. The reasons for such a long delay were an injury to bassist Cliff Williams and the band's transition from Electra Records to Sony Music. The album would become the last studio album in which Malcom Young would participate as in 2014 he was diagnosed with dementia and had to retire, while he passed away three years later.
The producer of the album was Brendan O'Brien and the sound engineer was Mike Fraser. Most of the songs were recorded live in the studio and then processed by Fraser. Black Ice is the longest album of all AC/DC albums as it runs for 55 minutes.
Black Ice is the third best-selling album of AC/DC only behind Back In Black and Highway To Hell. Its sales have exceeded 8,000,000 copies worldwide. It managed to reach No.1 in twenty-nine countries (!). In its release year, it became the second best-selling album worldwide, trailing behind Coldplay and Viva la Vida or Death and All His Friends.
