Fandango! by ZZ Top
About the album Fandango!
Fandango! is the fourth album by ZZ Top and is one of the most definitive records in their journey, as it established them as one of the top American rock bands. It was released on April 18, 1975. The style of Fandango! is an explosive combination of blues rock, Texas blues, and boogie rock.
The album has an unusual structure, as it is half live and half studio. Side A features live performances, such as Thunderbird and Backdoor Medley, capturing the raw energy of the band on stage without studio tricks. Side B includes new songs recorded in the studio, among which are some of their biggest hits, like Tush, which became their first major hit in the Top 20 singles, remaining to this day one of their most recognizable tracks, Blue Jean Blues, and Heard It On The X. The studio tracks were recorded between December 1974 and March 1975. The live parts come from a concert at The Warehouse in New Orleans, on April 12, 1974.
Fandango! reached No. 10 on the Billboard 200 and went gold.
