About the album Tejas
The Texans ZZ Top recorded and released their fifth album in 1976. The producer of the album is Bill Ham, who also serves as manager and image maker for the band.
The title of the album, Tejas, in the Caddo dialect of the Native Americans in the area, means “friends.” The name of the state of Texas comes from this word (!) In reality, ZZ Top pay tribute to their place of origin. It was not one of the most successful and beloved albums of ZZ Top, and Billy Gibbons himself described it as a transition towards a direction that even they did not know what it was.
Nevertheless, Tejas went gold in the U.S., selling 500,000 copies.
