Slip Of The Tongue by Whitesnake
About the album Slip Of The Tongue
Slip Of The Tongue from 1989 will come two years after the massive commercial success of the album Whitesnake 1987 and will also achieve success – albeit smaller. Thus, it becomes David Coverdale's band's second consecutive album to enter the Billboard Top-10. The recordings of the album took place from August 1988 to August 1989 at the Record Plant studio in Los Angeles. Mike Clink and Keith Olsen were responsible for the production of the album.
The significant change in this album regarding the contributors of the record will be the participation of the electric guitar virtuoso, Steve Vai, who offers his valuable skills during the recording, while equally valuable is the contribution of Dutch guitarist Adrian Vandenberg in the composition and orchestration of the songs along with Coverdale. The first single from the album was the re-recording of Fool For Your Loving, a Whitesnake song from 1980. Two more singles followed, The Deeper The Love and Now You’re Gone.
Slip Of The Tongue did not achieve the commercial success of the band's previous album, but the 4,000,000 copies sold worldwide maintained Whitesnake's reputation for some time longer at a time when the elements of the hard rock and metal sound were rapidly changing.
