Uriah Heep Live by Uriah Heep
About the album Uriah Heep Live
Uriah Heep Live from 1973 is not just a record; it is an audio monument of the golden age of hard rock, captured on vinyl at a time when the band was at the peak of their creative explosion.
The recording took place in January 1973 at the Town Hall in Birmingham, England, using Pye's mobile studio. Uriah Heep, with the legendary lineup of Byron, Box, Hensley, Thain, and Kerslake, decided to release this double album to capitalize on the massive success of Demons and Wizards The Magician's Birthday. They wanted to prove that the magic of their studio albums could be transferred to the stage, without the help of visual effects, relying solely on the stunning five-part harmonies and the relentless solos. The atmosphere of the album is electrified. From the explosive beginning with Sunrise to the epic finale of the Rock 'n' Roll Medley, the listener feels the sweat and intensity of a band that played as if there was no tomorrow.
Commercially, the album was a triumph. It reached No.23 on the UK charts and No.37 on the Billboard, and it quickly went gold on both sides of the Atlantic. In Germany and Australia, it climbed even higher, establishing Uriah Heep as global rock stars. It remains to this day one of the top live albums of the 1970s, an ode to the raw power of British heavy rock.
