About the album Blue Valentine

In 1978, Tom Waits released his sixth studio album titled Blue Valentine. Blue Valentine is an album where the creator mixes blues with jazz music, an album completed in the summer of 1978, from July 24th to August 26th, at Wally Heider Studios in Hollywood.

Blue Valentine is an album where all compositions are cohesive and all lead to a specific purpose: to tell stories of human pain, disappointment, and sorrow in Tom Waits' surreal way. Tom Waits, with his distinctive voice, seems to achieve this in the best way. It is rare to find on the same album songs like Wrong Side Of The Road, followed by Whistlin' Past the Graveyard and Kentucky Avenue. The album was produced by Bones Howe.

Blue Valentine has sold 100,000 copies in the United Kingdom and has gone gold. When it was first released, it reached No. 183 on the Billboard chart and didn't even appear on the UK charts (!)
