Blues & Roots  by Charles Mingus

Blues & Roots was one of the three releases by Charles Mingus for the year 1960. The recording and release of the album was carried out by Atlantic Records in their studios in New York. The producer of the record was Nesuhi Ertegun.

According to Charles Mingus himself, Blues & Roots reflects the creator's desire to approach the blues in his own way. The creation of the album came about after discussion and encouragement from Nesuhi Ertegun.

What is impressive about this record is that its sound engineer was Tom Dowd, who years later became a producer of albums for New Model Army and Primal Scream (!)
