About the album Closing Time
Almost no one paid attention to Tom Waits' debut album, neither in the U.S. nor elsewhere, with a small exception in Britain where it sold 100,000 copies and went gold.
Tom Waits mixes blues, jazz, and folk and creates a legendary album destined to accompany those who stay up alone waiting for the first light of day. The song Ol'55 boosted the album when it was covered by the Eagles for their album On The Border the following year. Initially, the Eagles' version did not please its creator.
The producer of the album was Jerry Yester.
