About the album Someday My Prince Will Come
The 1961 Someday My Prince Will Come will be yet another work of Miles Davis for Columbia Records. The legendary producer Teo Macero was in charge of the album's production. Someday My Prince Will Come contains half compositions by Davis as three of the total six pieces on the album are compositions by others.
In the tracks Someday My Prince Will Come and Teo, John Coltrane plays the saxophone. On the album cover, the female photo we see belongs to Frances Taylor Davis, the wife and muse of Miles Davis, with whom he remained married from 1959 to 1968. The marriage - unfortunately - ended in tragedy as Miles Davis behaved abusively towards her under the influence of cocaine and alcohol many times.
Someday My Prince Will Come, at the time of its release, received some negative reviews because it was considered an album that was made due to his contract with the company and not because he actually wanted it.
