Giants by The Stranglers
About the album Giants
After a six-year hiatus from recordings, the British Stranglers returned with Giants in 2012, which as an album has a very provocative cover. The London Underground authorities refused to put the poster-advertisement in the stations, and in many countries, a different cover was used. Photographer David Boni claims it is one of his best works.
The album begins with a four-minute instrumental track, Another Camden Afternoon, while its only single was Mercury Rising. The singer, bassist, and composer of the Stranglers has stated that some of the compositions in Giants go back even ten years. Louie Nicastro was in charge of producing the album, while Giants would become the last work of drummer Jet Black, one of the founding members of the band, as three years later, he would retire from the group.
The reviews the album received were mixed. What is certain is that in France, there was a particular interest in the return of the Stranglers, as about 50 appearances and interviews had been scheduled on Paris radio stations.
