The B-52's was a band from Athens, Georgia that was formed in 1976 and by 1979 had ready its first LP, which bore its name.

The album was released at a time when new wave had prevailed, that is, people were open to listening to anything. And with The B-52's, they certainly did. The album is considered and is one of the classic and characteristic records of that era and surprised with its surrealism and deliberate kitsch that it offered.

Over the years, the album The B-52's managed to reach 1,000,000 sales in the U.S. The initial position it occupied on the Billboard was No59.
