The B-52's returned in 1989 with the "particularly danceable" Cosmic Thing and swept the charts with the single Love Shack. The danceable character of the album is surely due to producers Don Was and Nile Rodgers.
The Love Shack video clip was awarded by MTV as the best group clip of the year.
Cosmic Thing was a global success for the band from Athens, Georgia. No.1 in Australia and New Zealand, No.8 in England and No.4 in the U.S.A.
