Couldn't Stand The Weather by Stevie Ray Vaughan
About the album Couldn't Stand The Weather
Stevie Ray Vaughan and his band Double Trouble returned to the recording scene in 1984, one year after their successful debut, with their second studio album, Couldn't Stand The Weather. Stevie Ray Vaughan continues here to give lessons on how blues should sound in the 1980s.
Couldn't Stand The Weather is an album consisting of eight songs, four of which are Vaughan's compositions, while the other four are covers/adaptations of compositions by others. This was also the only negative comment that Stevie Ray Vaughan received at the time of the album's release. The first single from the album was Voodoo Child (Slight Return), an eight-minute adaptation of Jimi Hendrix's 1968 composition, where Vaughan has the opportunity to showcase all his talent on the electric guitar.
The album has sold over 2,000,000 copies worldwide, making it the second most commercially successful album by Stevie Ray Vaughan and Double Trouble. The impressive achievement of Couldn't Stand The Weather was reaching No. 5 on the New Zealand charts (!)
