Hemispheres by Rush
About the album Hemispheres
In 1978, the sixth studio album by the Canadian band Rush became a reality. The Canadians continue on the path of progressive rock here as well. The British producer Terry Brown is with them in the studio, helping them organize all the complex compositions they create.
The album basically consists of four compositions. The first, titled Cygnus X-1 Book II: Hemispheres, covered the entire first side of the record with its over eighteen-minute duration, which is divided into six different parts. This is followed by two songs (Circumstances and The Trees) which played the role of singles, and the album closes with an almost ten-minute instrumental composition, La Villa Strangiato (An Exercise in Self-Indulgence), which consists of twelve different parts (!)
Hemispheres had its success at the time it was released in the U.S., Canada, and the UK, but what was impressive was that the album continued to sell steadily for the next 15 years in the U.S. at least, where it has now exceeded 1,000,000 copies.
