A Farewell To Kings by Rush
About the album A Farewell To Kings
The Canadian band Rush decide to move to Wales in order to record their fifth album there. It is the first album they record outside of Canada. This proposal was made by their producer, Terry Brown, and everyone accepted it with great pleasure. The recordings take place in June and July of 1977 and on August 29th of the same year, A Farewell To Kings is on the shelves of record stores.
A Farewell To Kings was a milestone album for the musical development of each of the three members of the band as each of them learned to play additional instruments, while the use of synthesizers became more prominent in their compositions. The album consists of six tracks and the first single chosen was Closer to The Heart, followed by Cinderella Man.
With this record, Rush establishes themselves as one of the most important progressive rock bands of that era as A Farewell To Kings enters the Top-40 of both the United Kingdom and the United States. In their homeland, Canada, the album sells 100,000 copies and, by Canadian standards, goes platinum.
