Sheer Heart Attack by Queen
About the album Sheer Heart Attack
With their third album, Sheer Heart Attack from 1974, Queen makes a shift in their musical style as it seems they largely abandon the progressive concerns of their first two albums. With Sheer Heart Attack, they establish the sound that characterized them in their subsequent records in the 1970s, meaning Queen moves between glam rock and very often even hard rock.
The band needed to be in the studio from July to October 1974. The producer of the album was Roy Thomas Baker, with whom they had collaborated on their first two works. The album received positive feedback from both the public and critics. The song compositions are individual works of each member except for the song Stone Cold Crazy, which is jointly credited to all four.
The album reached the No.2 position in Great Britain and No.12 in the United States. The sales of Sheer Heart Attack are estimated to be around 900,000 copies worldwide.
