About the album A Day At The Races

The fifth album by Queen is A Day At The Races, released in 1976 and comes as a natural continuation of A Night At The Opera. Musically, it moves between hard rock and symphonic rock, with touches of glam rock not missing. The album is slightly inferior to the previous one, but it is certainly considered among the very good records of the band.

The recordings began in July 1976 and were completed in November of the same year, while the following month the album hit the market. The major change this record brought during its recording was the absence of producer Roy Thomas Baker for the first time. The Queen decided to take full responsibility for the creation of their new work themselves.

The album was an immediate success as it reached No. 1 in their homeland and No. 5 on the Billboard. It also ranked highly in other countries, such as No. 1 in Japan or No. 11 in New Zealand. After the release of the album, the A Day At The Races Tour followed, which took Queen to Canada, the United States, and many countries in Western Europe.
