About the album Give Out But Don't Give Up
The band from Scotland returned discographically in 1994 with their fourth studio album titled Give Out But Don't Give Up after a three-year absence. If someone were to see the album cover and listen to songs like Jailbird, which opens the record, or the album's first single, Rocks, they wouldn't believe that this album follows Screamadelica. The truth is that they sound like a band from some southern state of the United States of America and not from the United Kingdom.
Primal Scream made a career shift as they adopted the blues, funk, and rock sound in its entirety on this album. They managed to have George Clinton with them in the recording of the album, who sings on two songs and co-composes the album's title track with them, while for the horn section they have the help of the legendary The Memphis Horns.
Give Out But Don't Give Up reached No. 2 in Great Britain. Its album sales are estimated to be close to 100,000.
