Every Good Boy Deserves Fudge by Mudhoney
About the album Every Good Boy Deserves Fudge
Every Good Boy Deserves Fudge is the second studio album by the American rock band Mudhoney, released on July 26, 1991, by the Sub Pop record label.
The recording of the album took place in the spring of 1991 at Egg Studios in Seattle with producer Conrad Uno. A simple eight-track studio was used, giving the album a raw but cleaner sound compared to their previous releases. The musical style of the album is a combination of grunge, garage punk with many elements from 60s rock. It is characterized by distorted guitars (fuzz), influences from Stooges and Black Sabbath, but also a more "playful" mood. The main single was "Let It Slide" (June 1991). Other notable tracks include Generation Genocide, Into the Drink, and Who You Drivin' Now?.
The album initially sold approximately 50,000 copies, later reaching 75,000 worldwide. In the United Kingdom, it managed to enter the Top-40 (No. 34). It is considered the album that saved Sub Pop from bankruptcy in 1991, as the revenue from its sales allowed the label to continue operating.
