About the album Climbing!
Climbing! is the debut of the hard rock band from New York and will be released in 1971. The album is known for its hard and raw sound. Essentially, it's a strong passage from blues rock to hard rock, while there's also a taste of psychedelia in songs like The Laird. The songs follow one another and win over the unsuspecting listener.
Special mention should be made of the album's opening track and the band's first single, Mississippi Queen. The single reached No. 21 on the Billboard and defined the band's subsequent course. Ozzy Osbourne chose to cover it in 2005 for his own album Under Cover.
The rough production of Climbing! is by Felix Pappalardi, who was the bassist, singer, and composer for Mountain. The group's debut reached No. 17 on the Billboard, and its sales made it gold.
