About the album Rust In Peace
In 1990, the American band Megadeth released their fourth studio album, after some changes in the band's lineup, as Dave Mustaine had fired David Ellefson (bass) and Chuck Behler (drums). The new album is titled Rust In Peace and over the years it has achieved a very high position in Megadeth's catalog. Many enthusiasts of this particular music genre consider it among the best thrash metal albums of all time.
It is interesting how the album title came about. One day, while Dave Mustaine was driving to his home, he accidentally saw a bumper sticker on the car in front of him that read: "May all your nuclear weapons rust in peace." He kept the final phrase and used it as the title of his band's next album. The legendary cover of the album is made by artist Ed Repka. On the cover, one can see Vic Rattlehead (the Megadeth mascot) with some of the leaders of the time behind him (e.g., Mikhail Gorbachev, George H. W. Bush, Toshiki Kaifu).
Rust In Peace reached No. 8 in the United Kingdom and No. 23 in the U.S. The album has achieved 1,000,000 sales in their home country.
